Whether you're a member of the design trade or an enthusiast of all things design, the terms fame, fortune, fun and freedom certainly will come to mind when you ponder the idea of why we design and an informative, and free, lecture coming to Philadelphia later this month addresses just these notions.

The UArts Alumni Association with AIGA Philadelphia, the Corzo Center for the Creative Economy, and DesignPhiladelphia have teamed to present Fame, Fortune, Fun, and Freedom: Why We Design, a lecture scheduled for January 24 at The University of the Arts.

The event features UArts alums Ken Carbone and Leslie Smolan who will share a behind the scenes look at their New York City-based design and branding agency Carbone Smolan. The duo, who graduated in the mid-1970s with BFAs in Graphic Design will discuss their agency's celebrated projects, what makes the partnership thrive, and their approach to business and the art of design.

Fame, Fortune, Fun, and Freedom: Why We Design
Thursday, Jan. 24
The University of the Arts
