The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology curates a series of exhibitions, programs and publications that aim to be both entertaining and educational. It's overall mission is to collect, conserve, document, exhibit, and interpret fashion and it's current exhibition -- Fashion and Technology -- does just that through an examination of how fashion throughout history has engaged with and been altered by advancements in technology.
A curious point for those in the home arena as well, particularly categories where both hand- and machine-made options are available, the goal of the exhibit is "to analyze the impact of technologies on the nature of fashion and its design, and to question whether these developments push the industry forward or ultimately set it back."
If you're in town for the Winter 2013 NYIGF show, be sure to bring along your badge as it will get you in for free during the week of the show.
